Hope your having a great Holiday Weekend. I have a question
for you. I am upgrading to RS Linx 2.50.I am having trouble uninstalling my previous version and installing the new. During uninstall ,I am able to get the uninstall process going but does not finish ,and just stalls towards the very end. Also does the same thing when I install. Is there anything I need to disable. Am I missing something here. Thanks in advance, |

Have you stopped the RSLinx service before your uninstallation?

No, I did not. I went into Admin. Tools / services and stopped the things I thought needed to be stopped. But I did not stop the service.

Check the AB web site for instructions
I had the same problems installing ver 2.5
You must clean out all registry entries manually otherwise 2.5 won't install correctly and also the un-instal won't work. If you check on the AB forums/knowledge base , you'll find directions on how to proceed installing ver 2.5 or even a patch (not sure what I did but it worked). Hope this helps. |

Thanks for your response guys,
Here is the whole story. I got the latest version of RS Logix 5000 for our new plant. With this package I got a version of RS Linx Classic Lite 2.50. This new plant has a GuardPLC,so I upgraded our Plant laptop to RS Linx Classic 2.50 and everything was fine. So when I got this Linx Lite version , I tried to uninstall my earlier version,on my laptop and that is when I ran into some problems. I was able to uninstall after I stopped some items in Admin. Tools / Services that was related. But I still cannot get it to install completely. Do you have any idea what is causing me to not be able to install. Also , would I need to activate this version with AB? Also I cannot find the stupid product code when I tried to activate it. One more thing , BKottaras said that " You must clean out all Registry Entries manually" could you show me a path to get to these Registers and what items I would need to clean out. I know its a lot , but Thanks in advance, |

What exact error you are getting and at what point?
Try this: Start -> Run type %temp% Delete all files and folders. Reboot. See if msi.exe running - if yes, stop it. Make sure your antivirus is not running and you have local administrator privileges on this computer. If this did not help, call RA techsupport. You don't activate Lite version, it is always active. And I don't understand how this is related to the Guard PLC? Guard does not use RSlinx. Are you talking about GuardLogix? |
