Symbol MS3204 2D Barcode Scanner - Omron CP1H

Anyone worked with this combination before? I bought the cable for SSI communication and I guess should have gotten the trigger cable instead. Anybody used one of these with SSI successfully? I don't quite grasp the concept of SSI. I made a cable adapter suggested by tech support at Symbol but it isn't triggering the scanner. Anybody with a sample program, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help,
Don
