Wireless Operator Panel

Hi everyone,

I work in the onshore oil&gas industry and I'm currently designing a solution for automating a cluster of oil wells.

In my design I'd like the operator to enter the location (cluster) and park his car near the control shelter and produce a mobile operator panel from which he will select a configuration to connect to the local PLC via secure WiFi connection.

From this panel, which I expect to resemble a current tablet, he will be able to monitor all the variables, adjust some setpoints and automatically create a report of his shift.

Does anyone know if there is such a device in the market and which manufacturer makes it?

Thanks.

There are a handful of tablet computer HMI applications. Probably the most polished one is ScadaMobile for iOS.

There are other HMI/SCADA platforms that include a mobile device-accessible screen set. Inductive Automation's Ignition is the most popular among Forum users, and Parker's Interact Express has a decent web browser interface.

Yes, and I wouldn't do it twice. There's no mobile version of PV+ or PV+6 and the effort to get it licensed and running on another hardware platform was a big hassle.

RSView ME and SE do have the ViewPoint web server feature now, so that puts them in the category with browser-based mobile interface. I'm not sure if they have the write functionality set up (the original release was read-only for security).
