1762-IQ32T Wiring Question

Greetings!

In the attached wiring diagram the pairs: DC COM 1, DC COM 2, etc... Are they internally jumpered? So in other words, if I want to wire my card to sink a sourcing sensor, I would only need (4) -24VDC connections to the card, not (8), correct?

Would it be bad practice to use one wire from Common supply to Point 1, then go from the 2nd point 1 to point 2, and so on? Assuming the original wire (back to PS) was sufficient to carry the current
