Choosing the right equipment

Hi,
I have a ML1400BXB on a stamping press that monitors various operations. We would like to add an oil drip monitor/sensor for our parts oiler. I tried a capacitive sensor from AD, had it installed in an acrylic tube, but the sensor would occasionally pick up oil and remain on all the time even though I have the oil drops falling centered in the tube.
I would like to know if anyone has advice on other hardware sensors that would work (through beam?, etc.). It would need to be relatively small.

Maybe a laser prox if the drop falls the same every time or possibly this:

Thanks for the heads-up on those fork sensors. I have plenty I could use those on. My concern is, will a clear oil reliably and consistently break a through beam set-up.

With sensitivity adjustment it looks like it has a chance of success. Get one and set up a bench test. If your contact at the local AB distributor is a salesperson and not just an order-taker, he/she should be able to get a sample for you to test.

Yes-2nd that thought. Talk to product specialist and find out their thoughts. Ask for a sample to try out on your application.
