Factory Talk - Restoring an APA from V8.2 using V11

Hi,

Rockwell level: Novice ; Siemens is more my gig. More formal training there.

I own a license to FTV ME, the panel this runtime is located on is not a panel view, appears to be third party. Does that require an SE license or can OEMs just buy a runtime license for that particular unit and lett'er go? More for my curiosity than my actual problem, but figured i would provide the details incase it is relevant.

I am having trouble when restoring an archive APA file. When i open application manager and select the file it is able to detect that it is version 8.2.

I am using version 11 of factory talk so it is to my knowledge i should be able to restore said file.

The file does not APPEAR to be corrupt as it is ~6000kb, but i am lost on what could possibly be wrong.

I am getting the invalid archive file error when selecting NEXT.

I have reached out to the OEM and requested a new APA as it may be ded.
Any insight on what could be causing this is appreciated.

I believe if it's a third party HMI, it could still potentially be a FTV ME runtime. As far as I know, it would need to be a panel PC with FTV ME Station installed. Are you sure that it's a ME .apa file? SE also uses .apa files for development.

Would it being made in SE not allow me to restore and open with ME?

Rockwell is very convoluted in how they gate keep certain features of the software,

ME and SE are two separate development platforms, the projects are not interchangeable. If the project was developed in SE, you'd need SE to restore it.

Unfortunately, the chose to use the same extension to archive.
