FactoryTalk View global/local messages

I have an application which had some duplicated links between the Local messages and the Global objects - the person who created it did a cut and paste so every groups of five objects was a repeat.
I created new names for the all the local objects, identical to the global obkects, but the messages do not display. Yes, I have messages in the Local Message files.
I cannot figure out how to re-link the Local message to the global ones.
