Would someone be able to tell me how many Input/Output cards are allowed after a CompactLogix L30ER and a 1769-PA2 power supply. At the present time this is the configuration I have after the L30ER processor and 1769-PA2 power supply.
Quantity(1)1769-HSC,Quantity(2)1769-IA16,Quantity(3)1769-OW8I,
Quantity (1)1769-IQ16. A total of 7 modules currently after the 1769-PA2 power supply. I am asking this because I may need to add an additional 1769-IQ16 input card and 1769-OW8I output card.

Well, up to eight modules, anyway. Something to also keep in mind is that there is a distance rating on the modules that lets you now how far away the module can be. The attached pic is of a DeviceNet scanner, with a rating of four. This means that you shouldn't place it any further than four modules away from the supply. Not sure off hand where the processor would fall in that scenario.

Found it! :)

The processor is also a 4 so you can put 3 I/O modules in between it and the supply.

Hope this helps!

One other thing, the maximum number of Modules you can use with an L30ER is 8. It will not accept more than this even if the layout of the Modules is correct in terms of the distance ratings.

So in your case if you need to add another IQ16 and another OW8I then you would have 9 Modules in total which the L30ER does not support. Your options would be to change the PLC to an L32E/L33ER/L33ERM/L35E/L36ERM which all accept more modules or change the two IQ16 modules to a single IQ32 module, or if you dont need the isolation you could use OW16 modules instead of the OW8I modules.

Regards
Ian
