First time user of this product and I am looking for what defines the size of the touch cell. The older PV standard had a defined cell size. The end user is looking for a matrix of buttons 8 horizontal and 4 vertical, plus five displays for feedback signals horizontally and 5 more button for moving to another pages of simliar format horizonally across the bottom on the screen.

On a 10-inch screen??!

I did a quick look through the PV+ User's Manual, but did not find a reference to touch cell size. If I recall correctly, with the PanelView Plus, the touch area for a button is determined by the size of the button, and there may no longer be touch cells in the PanelView Plus per se.

There is a button property that allows you to create a "deadband" of sorts (measured in pixels) around the edge of each button. That can help keep a user from accidentally pressing two buttons at the same time when they are spaced close together. In this case, the non-active border makes the operator have to press closer to the center of a button for it to activate.

However, the bigger (smaller?) issue may be your customer's request. IMHO, it would be difficult to create a useable touchscreen with that many elements on a larger (17")PC monitor, let alone a 10-inch HMI screen...

I looked back thru some older projects and a PV+ 700 with 8 buttons across was quite comfortable.

I must have fat fingers, then!! :D

For me, it wasn't clear from the OP if the screen was going to contain 32 buttons (8 x 4) plus 5 displays (indicators?) plus 5 navigation buttons across the bottom of the screen...it just seemed to use up a lot of real estate.

Thanks for the reply, but yes it is a matrix of 8 x 4 which is 32, plus an addition 5 displays for tension feedback xx.xx and then 5 buttons to tranfer between other screens.

I thought he was joking but they have some small panels that have these 4 x 4 matrixs but the failure rate is the problem.
