S7-1500 To Compactlogix Communications

Hi there,

I need to exchange about 100 Words of data In/Out from my CompactLogix L33ER and an S7-1500. We are connected physically via a Siemens Profinet Coupler. (The network is already setup)

Would a Prosoft PLCX32-EIP-PND talk to a PN coupler? I know it would work with the S7-1500 but not sure about the coupler.

No. You'll have to connect the Prosoft gateway directly to the Profinet network on which the S7-1500 CPU is. The PN coupler is an IO device on both sides, and the Prosoft Gateway is also an IO device.

The prosoft device would probably replace the PN/PN coupler.

We've used WAGO 750-88x controllers for this. They support EIP to communicate with the CLX and Fetch/Write for the Siemens end. Low cost in comparison to most solutions.

If the two PLCs are on the same network, then you may be able to communicate directly as well. The Siemens FAQ below has an FB/AOI that simplifies things a little bit, but depending on the HW you may be able to talk directly via TCP comms.
