S7-400 to S5-ET-200U communication

Dear Sir,

We have S5 PLC type ET-200U modules. I want to communicate through s7-400 type PLC to S5 ET-200U through profibus.
Is it possible?
The ET module is IM-318B type no : 6ES5-318-8MB11.

I tested with 318-8MB12, it is working.

Is there any body can help?

Yes, it should be possible.

In the STEP7 hardware catalog the last digit in "6ES5-318-8MB11" is ignored, it says "6ES5-318-8MB1."
So it seems that it makes no difference if it is an -8MB11 or -8MB12.

By the way, this must be an existing application, as the whole ET200U range has been put on the phase-out list.

Hi Jesper,

I find a difference in 318-8MB11,-8MB12.
In -8MB11, the DIP switch of 8th is for 'slow speed', where as in -8MB12 the same was meant for 'siemens DP' or 'Normal DP'.It is working with Normal DP mode.

I tried with lower baud rate also. But no use, Is there any other way to check with -8MB11?

Did the -8MB11 work before ?

Try to experiment with this setting in STEP7 hardware configuration of the module:
