setting up the rs232 on my 1747 uic

I have a 1747 uic that im trying to configure and need a little help. I got it to acess a slc5/03 via the cat5 or rs485 but I cant get it to work with the rs232 side of the device. I wanna learn to usethe serialside just in case I need to use it and two interface with micrologix. newto this and have been winging it but now im stumped. thanksfor the help.
