I have a SLC 5/04 (1747-L542C Series C FRN10+) and a PanelView 550 (2711-B5A2, Series H, Rev B, FRN 4.41).

Currently, the SLC 5/04 and the PView 550 communicate through an AIC (1761-NET-AIC) as such:

Panelview 550
1761-CBL-AS03 (AIC to SLC Cable) (Connects PView to AIC)
1761-NET-AIC
1747-CP3 (RS232 Cable) (Connects AIC to SLC 5/04
SLC 5/04

We have another machine that has a SLC 5/03 and a PView 550 (and the 5/03 has a DH485 connection). We want to upgrade this to a 5/04, and I am wondering if there is a simpler way to make get the 5/04 (RS323, DH+) and PView 550 (DH485) to communcate?

Tharon,

Does the PV550 have DH+? or only DH if so then that would be easy, if not then you may want to look at one that will, you should/might/maybe could get one off ebay for a good price and save in the long run

Just a thought...

Try using your PIC cable RS232 on the 504 to the 485 on the Panel Veiw. if you don't have one there cheap on the auction sites.

I think it will work but you might be limited to only seeing the one processor
