I want to connect a S7-315 cpu to an Omron CJ2M via Ethernet I/P and transfer mainly bit data ie. turn an Omron output on from the S7-315 or turn a s7 output on from the Omron. Is it possible?

Ethernet/IP on a Siemens 300 PLC will be very tricky, if not impossible. You will probably need to use a gateway, such as:
If the S7-315 has Profibus, http://www.anybus.com/support/support.asp?PID=165&ProdType=Anybus X-gateway
If the S7-315 has Profinet, http://www.anybus.com/support/support.asp?PID=301&ProdType=Anybus X-gateway
