Thin manager licensing issue

Hi,

I'm working on a project involving ThinManager running on windows server on a virtual machine on VSphere Esxi host for a ftServer and am facing challenges connecting the server to the Thin clients. I am also facing issues with the licensing process for license mode FactoryTalk Activation and I believe this to be the source of my first problem. I got the licenses from FactoryTalk Activation Manager and moved them to the VM with no issues. When I run ThinManager server I get the following message in a pop-up:

Server MIM-CTRL-TMRDS has no valid terminal connection licenses. Refer to the User's manual for details on using FactoryTalk Activations or go to https://thinmanager.com/licensing/ to obtain a demo code.

I looked at the manual and it instructed me to check for the activations under install/Licenses and everything checks out, the license is present with the correct serial number as the license in FactoryTalk Activation Manager.

I had this exact same problem a while back and there is a menu in Thin Manager to point it to the license server. I'm not near mine, but I'll have a look today if I get a chance.

Edit:

On Thin Manager, went to Install, Licenses then clicked on Add Activations and followed from there. Do you see any activations at all when you open Thin Manager and go to the Install menu and then press the Licenses button?

If I select the new licence it allows me to add it to activations and if i go to ThinManager server ribbon bar and select the server and check under Licences, both licences appear under the Serial Number-Feature-Count area but nothing appears under the Licences-Used/Available area (no terminal connection license, relevance license...etc)instead it displays the message "No ThinManager licenses installed"...

Hi,

Finally solved the licensing problem with assistance from Rockwell. It turns out that licensing issues can arise from:

1)hosting activations remotely. The ThinManager server can have trouble pulling them over the network.
2) invalid feature version listed for the activation in FTActivation Manager. If the activation catalog number is 9541-TMFF1-FTAP/M or 9541-TNFFRP/M you will have issues. Rehosting and reactivating will solve this issue.
3) Other expired FT Activations listed in FT Activation Manager that need to be removed.
4) Date format is something other than English(United States) in Windows.

For me the issue was several expired licenses in FTActivation Manager. Soon as i rehosted the expired licenses and cleared them from FTActivation Manager, the new license was activated.

Thank you for the assist....
