Interfacing with a Can Device with ControlLogix

Hi Gents,

I am required to interface with a Drive from a ControlLogix L-61. Has anyone any experience of this?

Any recommendations of how I can achieve this, Modules available, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Just to clarify, the VFD has a CanBus interface module? What is the VFD manufacturer?

Well its not exactly a VSD, more a Power convertor.

For communication it has a serial interface or real time CAN over fiber optic link.

Well... I don't know of any CAN modules for ControlLogix... maybe SST? Otherwise you can use the serial port on the processor or a serial interface card from someone like Prosoft.

A company called HMS makes a lot of fieldbus converter modules.

You should go ahead and call them and explain the application and they should be able to help you.
