Hi everyone,

Please help me:

1. Can I use PanelView Plus 1250 if I have more than 25 CLx Controllers? Estimated tags counts are over 40,000 tags.

2. Is there any limitation in using PanelView Plus 1250?
What are those limitations?

Thanks a lot.

I depends on how the data is to used with the pv?

All 40k tags then there will be a problem. Pv + is based on screens not tags but in most cases you will run out of physical memory before you reach the limitation.

Only the tags on the active scrren and alarm tags are being polled by the pv not all tags all the time.

there is definitely a limitation, and I would think that you would surpass it with that system.

a couple of years ago we had a system with far less than that and it was real bogged down, and that was on a fiber backbone. Ended up using the supervisory edition or whatever it is called and ran it on touchscreen pc's. I think the limitation on windows is near 400 if I remember correctly.

1. Do you mean that 40K tags will work, because the PV+ polled only active screen and alarm tags?

I came across an AB knowledgebase that says;

  • Each HMI Tag used will by default consume ~ 2.9KB of RAM.
    • You will start to see performance slowdowns at runtime when MERuntime.exe exceeds 26MB of RAM usage.
  • Each device tag used will by default consume ~1.1KB of RAM.
    • You will start to see performance slowdowns at runtime when MERuntime.exe exceeds 26MB of RAM usage

2. Meaning If I have 40K tags x 1.1KB = 44000 KB (~44MB) of MERuntime.exe?

3. Let we say I had 10 tags in 1 HMI Screen open during runtime,10 tags X 1.1KB =11KB + Alarms = the RAM usage at runtime?
