Red Lion Modular sticking

I'm using Red Lion Modular PID controllers with Automation Direct Productivity PLCs and HMIs. I have 10 heating zones, each with their own module.

Yesterday, I was called in because the operator was unable to change the setpoint for one zone via the HMI. I tried reseating the module, restarting the HMI, but what did the trick was when I cycled power to the Red Lion controller. It was fine after that.

What could cause this? I hate it when my explanation is "It just froze up".
