Good morning, we have a minor fault showing on the RSLogix 5000 pane which indicates 'Energy Storage'. I'm wondering if this is generated by the supercap in the Energy Storage Module, and whether it needs to be replaced.

Has anyone else experienced this before? The processor is a 1756-L7 and has been confirmed to have an ESM.

Also, do you have to create a GSV function in order to view the fault codes or are they able to be viewed elsewhere in the processor?

Any help is welcome! Thanks in advance.

Thanks James, unfortunately I don't have the minor fault code. It only appears on the status pane of RSlogix 5000 where it shows 'Program Mode', 'Controller OK', 'Energy Storage' and 'I/O OK' statuses. The 'Energy Storage' is indicated with red.

Go online witth RSLogix and look for the minor fault code in the properties of the controller.

There's a known bug about some ESM manufactured around 2014. You can find a technote about that topic in RA knowledgebase.
