What tools do you have available to access the PLC?
Any of the LEDs are active, apart from the display ?
Maybe the original programmer activated the webserver on the CPU.
Try to connect a PC, open a webbrowser and type in the IP address of the CPU for the webbrowser to access. Then you should be able to view the diagnostics buffer of the CPU.
