1. Pop-up: Error getting Factory Talk Directory schema. [OK]
2. Pop-up: Cannot connect to addin object
Name: Application Handler
Cause: 80004005

w2k pro sp4 HP-Omnibook xe4400 1G-ram, 17G free hard disk.

FactoryTalk connects all the pieces of your project together. Without it, you'll see messages just like the ones you posted.

There is a program tool installed with FactoryTalk that sets the FactoryTalk directory server.

1. Did you run it?

2. Is the server for this machine set to the same computer as the machine that works?

3. Is this computer connected to the same network as the machine that works?

Hmm,

I went to the Rockwell KnowledgeBase and did a search on "schema".

Two of the first nine results appear to be on the very problem you are having. At least according to their titles:

E20458695: Error Getting FactoryTalk Directory Schema link

P42049962: Error Getting FactoryTalk Directory Schema link

When you did what these tech notes sugggested, what were your results?

I had this problem recently. The first thing I tried after getting error messages, was to uninstall and reinstall RSView Studio. The installation recognized that I had an incompatible copy of RSSQL (old version), that I had recently installed. After uninstalling RSSQL, I completed the RSView Studio installation and all was OK again.

Thank you all, with your tip I finally found it out !

There was service: Rockwell Event Server: sheet Log On: Profile 1 was Disabled for unknown reason. (Control Panel -> Adminstrative tools -> Services { 2 gearwheel )

I enabled it (profile 1) before uninstall: (uninstall removes that EventServer.exe-file, but obviously it's properties stay to some registry)

Uninstall order:
1. RRView Studio
2. RSLinx Enterprice
3. Factory Talk

4. Re-boot computer

Then re-installation order:
1. Factory Talk 1.08, Re-boot computer
2. RSView Studio and Yes for Re-booting who takes a while...
3. RSLinx Enterprice, Re-boot computer
Re-member that I have w2k pro OS, not XP !

And finally, it works, thank you again for your tips !
