PLC doing rs232 reading using PICdem2 Basic

I am really new at PLCs, but I need to a project programming with Basic.

Can anyone give me some insight on how to write a program from scratch in Basic to read the data tables of the PLC

I am using Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1500 series PLC, SLC503, Rs232.
