I need an OBD 2 autmotive diagnostic reader for 2 of 3 OBD 2 my vehicles (96 Ford, '99 Buick, '02 Toyota), but have never used any electronics diagnostic unit.

Any suggestions from your experience(s)?
Any suggestions on mfg's or models ?

Would be nice to OBD 1 in same model for '92 Buick, '90 Oldsmobile which have OBD 1, but not essential.

I have laptop and/or Pocket PC (2003) if there are versions that use those rather than handheld format.

You may have already found this…I have never used this product.

The last time I needed trouble codes out of the computer on a car, I used the paper clip and counted check engine light pulses.

Hope this helps,

Can anyone recommend 12V PLC , to be used in a car. That is robust and can handle variations in normal car voltage? Bit on a budget side to :)
