Flex logix, 1794-IE8

Have a small problem, when setting up 1794-IE8 using 4-20mA signal. With RS 5000 is there a way to offset the counts 0-33840? Im not sure how the underflow bit works or if I can illustrate that negative counts represent a broken wire. At the moment if 3.99mA is detected it generates an alarm and stops the process. My thought is if the counts could be a portion higher then 0 counts could represent an actual problem with the instrument.
