Help me!
I'm trying to configure a s7-414-2dp. I have the computer setup and the plc on the network. The node adress of my computer is node 42. the node adress for the plc is 60. if i change the key position it shows on the computer. So i'm guessing that the communications is configureed correctly. The plc comprises. slot 1 and 2 =PS. slot3= CPU, slot4=CP443-1,slot5 =DI16xuc120/230, slot6= DO16xac120/230,slot7=DI32xdc24v,Slot8=DO32xdc24V,slot9=AI8x14bit,
slot10=AO8x13bit.
I'm haveing trouble figureing out the addressing for my input and output cards. the addresss that came up automaticly were for DI16x was 0...1 and for the DO was 0...1. for DI32 it was 2...3 and for DO32 it was 2...3. I'm confused! (32 bit system, should be 0.0-1.7 for the DI 16x, and the DO should be 2.0-3.7) Is this correct if not then why? What should the addressing be?

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure I fully understand, but 16 should be 2 bytes, auto addressing would be 0.0 through to 1.7, 16 bits. The 32 one would be auto addressed 2.0 through to 5.7, 32 bits.

You can always re-address as well.

Bytes

Daniel-
Siemens uses byte addressing so a 32 point digital input card would take up 4 bytes i0.0-i0.7, i1.0-i1.7, i2.0-i2.7 and finally i3.0-i3.7 and be represented in the hardware config as 0...3. I find it helpful when uncertain about the addressing to open the hardware config. In the bottom half, where you see the addresses, right mouse click on the individual card and go to the edit symbols selection. It will then layout the addresses for that card. Just keep in mind that siemens counts in 8's 0-7 bits. So you can look at all 16 bits of an input word using IW10 but that would consist of IB10 and IB11 and furthermore i10.0-i10.7 and i11.0-i11.7. Not sure if that clarifies or confuses the issue...

Input and Output portions of the meomry are separate so you can have an I0.0 and a Q0.0 with no issues - the only problem I see is in what you are seeing for the 32 bit cards... you're analogs should be soemthing like PIW512, PIW514, PIW516, etc...
