Can anyone fill me in on which allen bradley book explaines how to mix controllogix hardware with flexlogix hardware on the same controlNet network? And how to configure them using Rslogix5000?
I went to Google and typed in "controlnet logix5000" and the first document in the list returned the ControlNet Modules in Logix5000 Control Systems User Manual from the AB web site.
But you could also go to AB's web site and click the Literature Library link and type "controlnet logix5000" in the search key word section. It's the first manual listed.
Or if you have the RSLogix5000 software, click Help - Online Books - ControlLogix Manuals or FlexLogix Manuals and you can read the manual that was automatically installed with the software.
I have a system I put together that does share a ControlNet and some I/O betwen FlexLogix and a ControlLogix. I even produce and consume tags between them.
It really is not any different than doing it between two ControlLogix racks. Everything works just the same.
The only differences I remember are these.
1. You cannot do a listen only connection to I/O on the CompactLogix Flexbus. this means you cannot share that I/O with your ControlLogix. This would be the I/O that is plugged directly into your Flexlogix or connected via the expansion cable to bus 2 of your Flexlogix.
2. The 1788-CNC(R) is not nearly as powerful as the 1756-CNB(R). this means it has fewer connections available and you will max out it's CPU much easier than a CNB's. This is the ControlNet card for your FlexLogix.
Really the only thing you need to read up on is the ControlNet guide. If you understand what ControlNet can and cannot do I don't think you will have trouble.
Communications with ControlLogix family hardware is really incredible. You can do some really wild stuff. (not all of it advisable)
If you post exactly what it is you need to do I am sure someone can help.
