FX Communication

I would like to communicate with some Yaskawa(Omron,Magnetek,are the same drives with different names)drives via a Mitsubishi fx plc.Has any one had experience of writing ladder code for serial communication?I have a description of the drive protocol and experience with programming but not with serial comms.Any Idea where I could get sample code or more information?Any help would be appreciated.
