Many of you know about the L-sealer project. I have 3 of them I have redone using GE Fanuc 90-30 plc's. One of them had the latest firmware chip installed but the other 2 didnt, I went ahead and programmed and rewired them all ...everything was ok.

I received the firmware upgrade chips for the 2 units and immediately installed them then clear the processor and reloaded the logic. The first one I did worked fine but the second unit the outputs will not function. The program is working ..ie activating outputs but the card shows no lit led's or any output.

I came to my shop/office to find another 16 pt output card, I will have to swap one from another machine. I thought I would ask if any of you have run across anything like this. I really dont thing the output card is bad (I will know soon though) but for the life of me can not think of what could disable the card...the program DOES NOT have the outputs disabled, I can toggle the output in program but nothing outputs from card.

I am going back out to swap the cards and see what happens, hopefully one of you can tell me what may be happening. I am looking at the GE support site too.

Hey Ron,

If you haven't already, double check your hardware configuration (stored in the PC) and then reload it into the PLC.

If that still doesn't work, try loading an empty hardware configuration into it and then reload the good configuration again. I recently had a 90-30 where loading a bogus configuratio followed by my real configuration was the only way I was able to get it working.

Took a couple of tries but it finally started working. I cleared it then reloaded logic and hardware then did it again then reloaded just the logic and it started working...so strange. Thanks.

Afterthought! Did you ever work with LM90 and experience this? Is this a VersaPro "glitch"? Or is this just a common occurence with the 90-30's?

Hmmm...sounds like one that GE might ought to hear about. Sure wouldn't want to have a machine going down intermittently.

Anyway, glad you got it working.
