difference between instrument cable and control cable

Well, until someone gives you a formal answer.....

I think of instrument cabe, as a small guage fine stranded often sheilded wire for low power signals generally connected to a sensor, meter, display of similar device.

I generally consider control wire to be larger, 14 or 16 guage, sometimes larger, often solid conductor, to connect switches lights, relays, and devices will higher voltages and currents.

I like to use MTW (Machine Tool Wire) which is more flexible and has a different insulation, and is very flexible and easy to work with.
