No such thing as rs1000. Do you mean ML1000?
What cable are you using, complete catalog number?
What driver are you using in RSLinx?
The more info the better the help.
Driver is for the 232 cable and I am using that particular one. I am not near it at the moment to get the complete catalog number. Is there an auto config feature that RSlinx can recognize the PLC? I'm not real AB savvy by the way.

In your RSLinx do the following:
1. no setting need in your PLC
2. just use a cross cable to connect between your PLC and PC
3. goto Communication>Configure Drivers
4. select RS-232 DF1 devices and click Add New... button
5. select the right Comm. Port for your PC
6. click the Auto-Configure button
7. if very thing is fine you should see the Successful message and your PLC will appear on the RSLinx

Very good.... all but number 2, the cable is not a cross cable, you need a 1761-CBL-PM02
