I like to connect this http://www.lenord.de/en/produkte/sensorline/inkremental/gel260/TI260_e.pdf
encoder type : GEL 260-V-010000A001 too my slc 500 AB, cpu L551, i like to count 3000 puls/sec = 1 rotation
Is this counting speed posible with a standard DI 16 card ?
Or do i go for a specific card like the 1746-HSCE ?
Or is the duty cycle the limmiting factor ?
At this moment I only purchased the cpu and encoder and I can use advise.
The principal of choice pulse / rotation is also difficult for me.As I understand it I connect two inputs and then ?
If there is help it would be apriciated

Its too fast for the DI16

I would guess the HSCE card would do it but cannot say for sure as i havent used one, checking out the manual would be a good place to start!

Oh, I calculate the frequency = F =1/Period
F = 1/ (1/3000) = 3000 Hz correct ?
The HSCE can do 32767 Hz
I do not find this data for the IB16 card, what would be the max. frequency for this card. I searched for 1746-IB16.Strange no data ? So the good news is that the duty cycle (running te program i mean) is no problem , 3000/60 = 0.02 sec.

Sorry that i ask this many questions, but equipment like this costs me half a leg, so I better make sure too buy the right hardware.

Now I understand :

(120 RPM x 6000) / 60 = 12000 Hz Time = 0,083 m/sec

Accuracy = 0,01 mm ( linear movement )

When I use accuracy of 0,1mm

( 120 RPM x 600) / 60 = 1200 Hz Time = 0,83 m/sec

Many thanks for the CORRECT formula, so my question remains,can I use a normal DI card for this second calculation ?

I did some reading, now that I know where to look ;) and this confirms that I need a HSCE card.

The fast input card 1746-ITB16 = 1 KHz ( i need at least 1,2 )
So I go for the much faster HSCE, a bit expensive... i need two, you can connect one encoder too one card, correct ? I believe so.

I like to thank everybody who help me out with this question
