Guys,

Not the best with Siemens STep7. I have to upgrade a PLC from an S7-3152DP to a 317. What is the best way to upload all the Datablock/memory values containing process setpoints etc and download to new CPU???

Connect to the old CPU. Goto the online view of the cpu. Select all the data blocks. Do a upload to PG from either the top menu or right mouse menu.

Backup / Save the project

change the cpu type in the hardware config

connect to the new cpu

download the complete programme

that should do it.

I have came across some problems if you just upload using the upload button. If someone has made a change to the Datablock and downloaded but not saved, then if you upload the datablock from the PLC the structure of the Datablock is different, this usually results in simatic manager making all the variables STATS. The way i do it is to go online whilst viewin all the blocks, select all DB's and Copy them to the offline partner, this way you will capture all of the data you require.

Hope this helps

So am i correct in this?

I go online, copy all of this blocks and paste into offline project. Then do a full download to new CPU and all dbs have their uploaded data and not reset to initial value?

yep, copy - paste then do a normal download to PLC of all the blocks, its just a precaution incase the offline project doesn't fully match the online partner.
