beginner in s7-200 CPU224XP

Hey,

I'm trying to connect a Siemens CPU224XP to my computer using a USB to RS-232 serial interface. But everytime I try an communicate between the two it says,

"Port could not be opened or is being used by another application".

Can anyone give me some advice on this problem?
