Hi Guys,

We currently had our PC's upgraded by IT and now I've got a problem with my FactoryTalk View application file. I can recall that the IT guy did a backup of my C drive before the upgrade and restored the files on the C drive after he was done. Now I cant find the .apa file for one of my PanelView Plus 700 terminals. I was able to upload the .mer file form the terminal but i reaaly need the .apa file. Is there a way to get this from the .mer file or any other way. Would really appreciate your help on this one.

To restore the application from a .mer file, run Application Manager and select the last radio button. It should walk you through it. Be aware that not everything gets restored, I believe there is some issue with Alarm pages. Check with the Knowledge base. Good Luck!

Did you search the entire C drive, not just the place where Factory Talk puts the archives?

I have version 5.00 and this is the error i get. I actually found an old copy of the .apa file but still get the error opening it.

Edit: sorry i thought you had rsview. FT viewme already has i an option for converting mer to apa as rds writes

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling FactoryTalk View Studio?

So your only backup of the current .apa file was on the laptop you handed over to the IT guys ?

Thanks for all your replies. I finally found out that it was a version issue which was giving me all these errors. Actually I installed ver.5.00 on my laptop but the .mer file on the terminal was 5.10. I upgraded the ver. and it worked.
