String move in RSLogix 5000

Hi,

I think what I want to do is simple, but I don't know how.

Let's say messages are stored in strings "ST01" and "ST02". I want to move "ST01" in "ST03" if boolean tag "Tag1" is true, and if "Tag1" is false, I want to move "ST02" in "ST03".

I would like to have a solution that will work in ladder and function block.

Okay I found the COP and MID instructions, but they are not available in FBD diagram.

Anyone has a solution for FBD?

Can you create an AOI in ladder to perform the string copy? Then use it.

I can't because when I create AOI, I can't define strings as Inputs or Outputs, only Local Parameters...

The must be defined as InOut parameters. Technically only the addresses of the strings are provided to the AOI. Check the attached.

Ok, but again I want to use FBD in my routine. I cannot use the COP instruction.

That's the beauty of the AOI. Hide the different language inside it.
