You will have to replave the B7A with a CJ1W-CRM21.
The remotes will have to be replaced with CompoNet remotes.
When you set up the CRM21 in the PLC and generate the I/O table, the PLC/software will automatically allocate memory for the remote I/O. You will just need to instruct CXP which mode the CompoNet networtk is to run (in the manuals).
You can run the system on auto allocation this way or use CX-Intrgator to program the remote I/O wherever you want in memory.
If you want to use CX-Integrator for you set up, you will need to set the DIP switches on the CRM21 to the correct position to allow software allocation.
Setting the switches on the remote I/O is similar to setting the DIP switches for the old system.
You do not hae to worry about setting speed switches for the remote I/O - they are self sensing. You only have to set the network speed on the CRM21.
By the way, I reckon it is the the best remote I/O system I have ever used. I have used many remote I/O systems over the years including Device Net, Profibus, the old Omron remote I/O, Schneider Advansys, the old Schneider one, Ethernet IP, and several others. CompoNet just works on a twisted pair - no expensive specialised cables or anything else.
The absolute beauty of it is you do not need software to set anything up at all. Just switches on the remote I/O and the CRM21, auto allocation, write the program and away it goes for smaller networks.
You can also use the Device Net expansion modules (XRT?) and just plug them on the end of the CRT modules and reduce network wiring and space as the main I/O receiver takes care of the plugged on expansion unit as well.
By the way, the network refresh time for 1000 I/O over a twisted pair of 30 metres length running at 2 megs is only 1 ms!! You cannot get that sort of refresh rate out of most (if not any other) remote I/O systems. It is token ring based so there are no crashes/delays.
