Hi, I have a big project which has 6 17-slots Racks connected by Controlnet. How much the maxium scheduled Controlnet connection? If I use comm formt:Rack Optimization instead of input/output Data for DI/DO Cards, Will it save Connections? Thanks,

Yes, using Rack Optimisation will reduce the number of connections utilised.

Example : A 17-slot chassis full of Digital* I/O modules will require 16 connections. Using Rack-Optimisation reduces that to 1 connection.

* Analog I/O modules cannot be added to the Rack Optimisation method.

Disadvantages : None except that all digital I/O in the chassis has to run at the same RPI rate. If you do need an I/O module to run at a different rate, it can be added to the configuration so as not to use Rack Optimisation.

How to change Comm format, it's grey color, I can't change, Does it must delete and then add?

Yes, you must delete and put back in Rack-Optimised format.

The reason is that this changes the Module-Defined tags that are created, and any existing I/O references are aliased into the rack-optimised tags. This subject usually takes me an up to an hour to get across to most people.

Connection usage is limited by :-

a) The processor - 250 maximum
b) The comms module - the CN2 have twice the nunber of connections than the CNB, the specs will tell you how many each module will support.
