We are using a Power Flex 700 as a vector drive. The system overshoots and then it tries to hunt for position. There are 900 parameters and I am wondering if it is in my Torque settings?

We are using a vector drive that has an encoder. There is a step function which allows the you to program: Velocity,Accel,Decel, position, dwell, batch, next step. This allows for doing profiling.
The VFD feeds back Units traveled for actual position. It overshoots and then hunts. The decel maybe too short.

What kind of load are you braking? I think this is first and foremost - if overhauling load it may be quite difficult to stop it on a dime.

I think i would consider the braking resistors.

The other thing may be that your braking time may be too long ie it is told to stop and due to long decel time and maybe inadequate braking resistor overshoots the stop point.
