Hi all,
I am trying to download RSL 5000 V21 from the RA website. I have a tech connect contract. I put in my company name and S/N and it takes me to the download site. I click on the Download now button and sometimes is does nothing other times it comes up saying there is a error and I need to refresh the page. No matter what the Download Manager doesn't start like it normally does.

I have done everything that is in one of the KB articles like uninstalled/reinstalled the RA Download Manager but no luck. I cant seem to even download free software like RSLinx. 🔨

I just downloaded RSL5000 about a week ago and it worked then. The only thing that has been done to the computer is a windows update.

I have Win 7 64bit. Any help would be appreciated.

Was this an update by your IT department. Ours blocks autostart.inf from being downloaded. We have to be on an exception for this to work.

No, I don't have a IT department (Thank God!!!). I have my computer set up to do automatic windows updates. That is the only thing I could think was causing the problems.

At the risk of sounding stupid, how do you do that?

I normally just click on the "Download Now" or the icon button, Download Manager comes up and everything just works. When I click on download icon I just get a page that comes up saying:
"This page can't be displayed"

I am open to any an all ideas.

Have you tried to change the default RA Download Manager download directory?
I usually direct the path to my Desktop.

The files hyperlink should contain the embedded path to the file server it resides on. In most cases you can simply right click on the link and select save as. You should get a dialog to map the path where you want to save the file on your machine.

If the download stops using this method it will not resume though unless you have a resume download capable browser.

Download manager do 2 things for you they open multiple connections to the same server or mirror severs to increase download speed by utilizing all of your connection bandwith(or partial if you ave restrictions set on it)and they collect and save the file header info and montor downloaded packets so you can resume large downloads.

I try to use FDM a download manager that works and avoid the company sponsored type if at all possible because there are many varirtys and it can sometimes be a pain to get them to work on you machine. It may be worth trying on a diferent machine though if youi wish to use the Rockwell provided download manager.

I was able to solve the problem. The issue was with Internet Explorer 10. I switched over to Google Chrome and everything worked fine.

I talked to a RA specialist and he said they have had issues with IE in the past.

I sometimes forget that there are other browsers that I can use and just get stuck on IE.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Everyone is having issues with IE 10. it really sux.

I had to reimage a whole dept that upgraded to it. Has many issues with applications that are web based software as a service.
