Anyone out there know where I can get a book of the GE programming language? I am just a beginner and want to know the format of the I/O and addressing all the functions.

I have a little Allen Bradley programming experience.

Thanks in advance... :D

With the information you gave us, Ron's link is close as anyone can give you without making an assumption as to which model PLC you're using.

If you want information on the Series 90 or VersaMax lines, which are the ones that GE Fanuc is selling these days, then I can point you a little closer.

http://www.gefanuc.com/support/plc/m-s9030.htm

Then download manual GFK-0467M

If you need information for some other model, let us know which one, and we'll point you in the right direction.

Thanks guys. I'm just learning this stuff. I figured it out at work last night going through a GE Fanuc installation manual. Is Logicmaster 90 the first software GE made? Then I assume CIMPLICITY was the next, followed by the latest, Versamax. Is this true?

I had a power supply go out on a press last night. Blown fuses, 42 volts (supposed to be 24VDC). It powered the inputs on a GE input module.

PLC's are one of the most interesting things I work with. I hope to get more knowledgeable of them. I just got my laptop too. Neato! :p

Logicmaster, which is a DOS application was indeed the original programming software for the 90-30. Cimplicity is GE Fanuc's SCADA package, although there was (briefly) a PLC programming package called Cimplicity Control.

GE Fanuc went through a long painful process to develop a Windows-based PLC programming software package, and it cost them dearly. They really never had a viable offering until they acquired Total Control Products (Quick Panels) and got Taylor Software in the deal. Taylor developed VersaPro on the way to the more comprehensive Cimplicity Machine Edition, which is what they're currently promoting.

Desert Dog,

The manual you cite can be downloaded from the GE Fanuc support site, HERE .

The last character in the publication number is the revision level, so the most recent version of the manual is GFK-0467m.

This particular manual was written for Logicmaster software, but the instruction set has not changed significantly with the introduction of either VersaPro or Cimplicity ME. They didn't publish a new version for the Windows software, so this is still the best resource.

Sometimes I learn better by seeing an example of what already has been done. You can download some GE 90-30 PLC code I did and check it out here: (It think there is a PDF in those ZIPS)

One program I took and hacked on it from someone else that started it. I think the other program I did from ground zero, I can't remember. Both programs are done in VersaPro....yah rah...don't everyone get all excited at once for VersaPro....(yuck)....Anyway. It's better than using LM90 that's for sure.
