S7314IFM communication with CP342-5 and CB15(VFD)

I want to configure s7314ifm plc with cp module cp342-5. And after that I have to communicate cp342-5 with a vfd through profibus dp cb15. I don't know what hardware configuration should I use and how to communicate and operate it. I will use vfd as a slave but I am confused that either my plc 314ifm or cp342-5 which one will be used as master.

Hi,

The 342-5 will be the master, not the cpu.
As far as I can remember, the 314IFM does not have Profibus port, only mpi.
So you connect the 342-5 card to the Profibus network in netpro.
You have to do the same with your slave device. Then you go to properties on the cp card, and set it up as master...

I know that 314IFM only have mpi thats why I am using CP342-5. I am configuring the same as you described but my slave(CB15 for vfd) is not recognized and I don't know the way that how should I configure it with CP342-5.

You set p918 in your micromaster drive right?
Also do you "see" your micromaster address using accessible nodes?

Hello Sadiq;
The CP 342-5 is autonomous on the Profibus network (it works without prompting from the CPU), but to exchange the data between the CPU and the CP you must use the specific functions DP_Send and DP_Recv in your program, as shown in the following Siemens FAQ:
What should you watch out for when configuring a CP342-5 as DP master and why is it necessary to call the FC1 "DP_SEND" and FC2 "DP_RECV" functions in the user program of the CPU in order to transfer data? </B />

the parameter p918 is not displaying in the micromaster after the connection also.

I know your problem.
Put p99 to a 1
Now set p918 to your profibus address

thanks jrw. Now I have also set p918 but my cp342-5(master) is not recognizing my dp slave (cb15). Can you please tell me the steps that how should I communicate both of them my dp master and slave.
