Gentlemen we have a cast extrusion machine having an FM with M7 software. Machine is down since few days and we are desperate for technical support. According to one support we got and the closest explanation to the problem we have is the following "The program is not running the Bit db50.dbx0.7 should go zero then we can start"
We appreciate any possible assistance

If your PLC is really an M7 CPU (PC CPU in S7-300 or S7-400 format) then it is very hard to get support or spares. Everything M7 has since long time been discontinued by Siemens.
M7-300/400 consisted of an Intel CPU with RMOS operating system, and programs written in Borland C/C++, or CFC.

Some links:
System Software for M7-300/400 Program Design
System Software for M7-300 and M7-400 Installation and Operation
ProC/C++ for M7-300 and M7-400 Writing C Programs
This probably tells you that you either know exactly what to do, or .... you can scratch the old M7 controller and create a new program on a standard PLC hardware with standard PLC programming software.
Probably the latter.

the module is 6ES7356-4BN00-0AE0, SIMATIC M7-300, FM356-4 APPLICATION MODULE W. 80486DX2 AND 8MB RAM, 1 SER. INTERFACE, EXPANSION BUS
it is installed on the same rack with a cpu315

Dear Jesper thank you for your reply unfortunately we are lacking the M7 software if anyone can help

Dear Kateb, yes it is on the same rack with CPU 315 any suggestions?

According to one support we got and the closest explanation to the problem we have is the following "The program is not running the Bit db50.dbx0.7 should go zero then we can start"
This does not sound like a good explanation of the problem.
what "program" is not running? the plc? (part of) program in plc?
what does this bit do.. from where is it written to.. (internal, external?)
what is the purpose of db50?

too many questions...

The machine is not running because below bit db50.dbx0.7 is not going to zero (in the plc program).
(we think DB50.DBX0.7 is used to monitor backplane communication between fm356 and cpu315. If this byte is always 0 or always 255, then the communication is missing…?)

L PIB 256
L 255

L S5T#10S
SD T 1
O T 0
O T 1
= DB50.DBX 0.7
What is the function of the first communication byte, between the fm356 and the cpu414 ?

We are not able to open the FM356 engineered software in the simatic manager. Only datablocks are visible.
In order to monitor this module, we need the following softwares as described in the link.
• SIMATIC STEP7 base system version 4.02 or higher
• M7-SYS system software version 2.00.14 or higher
• M7-ProC/C++ version 3.1
• BorlandC/C++ version 5.01

Where can we find these softwares?

The old system contains the following parts.
6ES7356-4BN00-0AE0
SIMATIC M7-300, FM356-4 APPLICATION MODULE W. 80486DX2 AND 8MB RAM, 1 SER. INTERFACE, EXPANSION BUS
6ES7378-2AB00-0AC0
SIMATIC M7-300, EXM378-2 EXPANSION MODULE FOR THE USE OF 2 IF MODULES
6ES7964-2AA01-0AB0
SIMATIC S7, IF964-DP INTERFACE MODULE DP MASTER FOR S7-400
What is the procedure to replace the fm356 module by a new one? which hardware and software ?
