Versa pro not won't open up hardware config

Recently my computer will not let me open the hardware config for the the PLC's. I keep getting a "cannot create hardware configuration" popup. I tried using the event viewer, but it does not tell me anything. I am running XP is there anything else I can check? I have tried reinstalling, and tried 2.03 (2.04 was on the computer).
