I am looking for an electric cylinder, kind of like a door bell. This cylinder would need to stroke 1.75"-2" and not need much force. I have searched the web and haven't found anything, but I might be searching with wrong keywords. Any one ever use something like this?

Thanks,
I've used many solenoids, but all of them being in valve banks. I didn't realize that's what they would be called.

what voltage? ... try going to:

W.W. Grainger

and search for keyword "solenoid" ... I've used their "laundry" types and "laminated" types for a lot of small projects ...

note: if you're going to use this with a PLC output, you might want to check into an interposing relay ... these little solenoids usually draw a lot more current than a PLC output card can handle ...
