Cool hydraulic motion control

The sensor is called a MRU or motion reference unit. The MRU senses the motion of the boat and a computer computes the opposite motion which is very simple. This is then sent to the hydraulic motion controller. The motion control receives a yaw, pitch and roll plus x,y,z offsets uses this information to compute the extensions of each cylinder.

The RMC can handle update cycle as often as 100 per second but most common is to be synchronized with the video frame rate which is usually about 25 FPS or one every 40ms.
The fastest MRU only update about 100 times per second.

We have been able to do this for years.

Here is our virtual test system and trade show demo.

This is some initial testing of a huge platform used in the making of the movie 2012.

Our distributor in India has been involved with retrofitting Moog flight simulators for many years. This is their show demo but it uses motors.

We have other customers that are using Stewart platforms to for race car simulators.
This is old stuff. I have a canned program for these Stewart platform applications. It is the particular application of the Stewart platform I find interesting and I need to ask my sales force why aren't they using our controller.

If you think that motion control is cool you should watch Boston Dynamics "Big Dog" on youtube, now that is where I would make the tea. The video was made in 2008 so my mind boggles as to what they may be able to achieve today.

I am convinced that certain things are not made by humans. One of this things is the Big dog and the Mule.
