OT:Galaxy S5 Wireless Charging

I thought I remembered some adapter thing you plugged into most devices with a mating pad that went with it that would allow wireless charging by placing the device on the pad. Like on your desk/nightstand/counter top.

You have to put the Galaxy in a special case or change the back for the Qi charging to work.

My GF has one and I had to get her a different back for it but then it was a little too thick for the case she purchased.

I am an Iphone Guy myself but I think all phones will have this built in and implemented better in the next couple of years.

I'm an iPhone guy just because that's what the company bought for me. Otherwise I either wouldn't have a cell phone, or I'd have some android device.

My toothbrush charges wirelessly by setting it down on a base. No metal contacts, all sealed. If they did that with phones I'd imagine dropping them in the toilet wouldn't potentially kill them anymore.

Why don't more things have wireless charging.

There a quite a few things now.

There is also Witricity. Lots of college engineering departments are working on this technology or similar including Mine.

Only if they use liquipel or similar coatings on the phones.

The major phone vendors should make this standard bu they maybe think it would decrease sales.

My Sony Z3 Compact is rated IP65 and IP68, and it still has 2 exposed contacts for the magnetic charging port.

I love mine, I purchased the official Samsung wireless charging battery cover, no case just replaces the battery cover. A little bit thicker but not much.

Loving my new Windows 8.1 Lumia phone with the wireless charging.
Finally tossed the stupid iPhone in the bottom draw of my cabinet (the cabinet of cell phone death, I have cell phones there going back to the 80's).
Never going back to an iPhone.
