Alright guys/Gals

I have a good 1 for you, i have a industrial fan 5hp 120/230v i want to put a VFD on it how ever the only input voltage that is close is 120v. I have been looking around i found a couple VFDs but i am not to sure if its exactly what i want, I have a ton of 3 phase VFDs at the plant. I need some ideas if anyone has any.

You didn't indicate if the fan motor was single phase or 3 phase, I'm assuming single phase. In which case a VFD isn't going to help you at all unless you change out the motor for a 3phase version. And then finding a 5hp VFD that will accept a 120vac input is virtually nill. Rson nailed it.

I also have to assume single phase motor: 5hp, 1ph is like 50/25A (or more) on 120/230V!

I seriously doubt you have a 120V, 50A circuit readily available.

There are plenty of VFD's that accept a 220/240 volt singe phase input and output 3 phase 230V. You would have to change your input voltage form 120V to 230Volt (or whatever you have).
