OK guys,
I know this is going way back but I am sure there are some guys who have seen this before.
I have a 1394 servo running a 2 axis pick and place connected to a PLC5 via RIO.
This is on an old machine that was just moved to another location. I verified that the pick and place worked before disconnecting it for the move.
Now I have it all powered up again and I am having trouble getting it to run. I can get online with GML Commander and turn on feedback, home both axis, move them but I am having trouble getting the output to the PLC to work which won't allow me to run in auto. I can see all of my inputs from the PLC but in monitoring the outputs for the RIO adapter they all stay at zero like they are being told to stay off. It has been about 8 years since I last worked on one of these so I am rusty and I am sure it is something simple that I am missing. I have checked all of the wiring and everything looks good there. All my lights are good with just the axis module lights flashing green until I manually turn on the feedback then they go solid green. I have no faults.

Any help would greatly be appreciated as I need to have this thing running by next week.

Thanks,
Larry

What do you mean by otputs not working?
Do you mean the 1394 discrete outs that become PLC-5 inputs?
Or PLC-5 outputs that become 1394 inputs?
If your RIO status LEDS are green then the RIO is working.
Give a bit more clear details.

I am talking about the discreet outputs that become PLC inputs. I can see my PLC outputs which become 1394 inputs just fine in GML Commander but my outputs from the 1394 do not change state in GML or in the PLC. SO for instance I can
The RIO appears healthy with solid green LED. What I am wondering is if there could be something inhibiting the outputs. My drive OK circuit for the e-stops is good. That is the first thing that I checked. Also my hardwire enable has 24v on it.
while writing this I may have figured it out. I just had another look at my PLC logic and it looks like those bits are be requested by an input. I will look at this part again in the morning and report back.

Thanks

I got this working. Looks like my RIO was working fine. I downloaded the GML diagram again and stepped through the program and it started working. The machine had been off for about 6 months and got moved so I don't know if somehow the program got corrupted or what.
