1761-net-dni and micrologix1500

Hello everyone

I have a micrologix1500 connected with RS232 to my computer, and connected to the 1761-net-dni with a series connexion from the controller.

I would like to ask if I can configure the 1761-net-dni to be like a scanner, in order to communicate with a powerflex40 device net.

What is the configuration Ihave to do in order to have a DeviceNet with Rslogix500.

The 1761-NET-DNI functions as a DeviceNet slave, as well as a peer-to-peer messaging bridge.

It is not a DeviceNet Scanner.

To control DeviceNet slaves, including variable frequency drives like the PowerFlex 40, your MicroLogix 1500 should be equipped with a 1769-SDN DeviceNet Scanner.

There are some tricky and unusual methods for sending Command and Reference words, and reading Status and Feedback words, from the MicroLogix 1500 to a PowerFlex 40 using a 1761-NET-DNI and the 22-COMM-D DeviceNet adapter option board.

But they are not easy to use, and I would not recommend them.

It would be a lot easier to configure the MicroLogix serial port for Modbus RTU Master mode, connect an RS-232/RS-485 converter, and wire that to the PowerFlex 40's "Drive Serial Interface" (DSI) port.

There is no way to add the PowerFlex only with the 1761-NET-DNI, that will be my slave and the master will be the micrologix?

Also is there any mean to add a devicenet to my micrologix? I used it before with rslogix5000 and I use RSNetworx.

That is correct. The 1761-NET-DNI is not a DeviceNet "Scanner" or "Master" device.

Yes. The 1769-SDN is a DeviceNet Scanner modules that is compatible both with MicroLogix 1500 and with CompactLogix controllers that support the 1769 Compact I/O bus.
