adding documentation to existing program

There is only one processor that I know of that will store the descriptors internally. Wanna guess which one?

You wanna us to guess what one you know of? I suck at reading minds so I wouldn't even try.

but don't all soft-PLC do it?

dear harryting,
Your knowledge of the automation world also sucks.

"but don't all soft-PLC do it?"

NOT!

Is unitronics capable of storing documentation in the processor?
If so Thats one I didn't know of.
The only one I know of is the Triplex Trusted model.

The current Siemens S7-300 series are equipped with an MMC memory card (I don't know if all the S7-400s now also come with MMCs) on which you can store not only descriptors, but the whole project.

You may argue that this is not what you mean by "stored in the processor", but since the CPU won't run without the MMC effectively it's the same thing - only more so!

Yeah, it do

Unitronics PLCs store every erg of the program source code onto the PLC, every jot and tidle. If the OEM lock is off, there is a permanent backup of what is running on the controller right there. anyone with Visilogic (free download, www.unitronics.com ) can upload the code and go online with a fully-commented program.

Omron's CS1 PLC does store comments and descriptions inside the PLC (in a separate extended memory (EM) location). Pretty cool. I do not know if all Omron PLCs have this capability.
